Research Preparation & Reconstitution Guide

A professional overview for preparing lyophilized research compounds using bacteriostatic water.

Novatherix products are supplied for laboratory research purposes only. Many compounds arrive in lyophilized powder form and require reconstitution prior to research use.

What Is Reconstitution?

Reconstitution is the process of adding a sterile liquid, such as bacteriostatic water, to a lyophilized compound so it becomes a liquid research solution.

The amount of bacteriostatic water added determines the final concentration of the solution.

Why Bacteriostatic Water?

Bacteriostatic water is commonly used in research preparation because it is sterile and contains a preservative agent. It is used to help prepare lyophilized compounds for controlled laboratory research handling.

Unless otherwise stated, bacteriostatic water is sold separately and should be ordered with lyophilized research compounds.

General Preparation Overview

The following is a general research preparation overview. Always use appropriate sterile laboratory handling practices.

Example Concentration Reference

Final concentration depends on the amount of bacteriostatic water added to the vial.

Use this as a general reference only. Product specific preparation may vary.

Vial Amount BAC Water Added Final Concentration
10mg 2mL 5mg/mL
10mg 3mL 3.33mg/mL
20mg 2mL 10mg/mL
30mg 3mL 10mg/mL

Storage Guidelines

Unreconstituted lyophilized compounds should be stored according to the product label and handled with care.

After reconstitution, many research solutions are typically stored refrigerated and protected from excess heat and light.

Always avoid contamination by using sterile handling practices.

Not every product does. Lyophilized powder products generally require reconstitution. Ready to use liquids, supplies, or non lyophilized products may not.

Unless the product page states otherwise, bacteriostatic water is sold separately.

Many research compounds are lyophilized to support stability during shipping and storage.

Aggressive shaking is not recommended. Gentle swirling is the preferred method for dissolving lyophilized material.

Prepare Your Research Order With Confidence

Order the supplies needed for reconstitution before your lyophilized compounds arrive.
